VA Style Headstone Installation
Camp 706 members purchase and installed a VA Confederate Style Headstone for Capt. William J Hay of the 16th North Carolina Militia. Capt. Hay's grave was originally marked with a UDC marker that had been damaged. Since the 16th North Carolina Militia was not pressed into "Confederate service" and was under the control of the Governor of North Carolina, the VA refused to provide a new headstone.
VA Headstone Installations
Camp 706 has installed over 50 VA provided headstones for Confederate Veterans who were either in unmarked graves or their headstones were damage/illegible.

The VA provided a granite upright headstone for Pvt James Smith of CO I 22nd North Carolina Infantry. Pvt Smith was killed at Gettysburg, PA

Cedar Grove Confederate Memorial
Camp 706 members used the biological agent, D2, to clean the Confederate Memorial in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The Memorial sits atop the Confederate Burial Vault which the plot was deeded by the City of New Bern to the Ladies Memorial Association in 1866. Work on the Confederate Burial Vault began in 1867, but the Confederate Memorial was not installed until 1885. The Confederate Memorial was dedicated on May 10, 1885, Confederate Memorial Day
